Tulum: Beaches and Ruins with a Caveat
A coastal Mexican destination combining Mayan ruins, beaches, and modern tourism.
Tulum has changed significantly — it’s still beautiful, but no longer hidden. Flying into Cancun Airport (CUN), I took a private transfer (about 1.5 hours) to Tulum — worth it for convenience. Tulum has two distinct areas:
· Beach zone → scenic but expensive

· Town (Pueblo) → more affordable and local The ruins overlooking the ocean are the highlight — go early to avoid crowds. Cenotes (natural swimming sinkholes) are everywhere nearby and are worth visiting. What I’d do differently: Stay in town and visit the beach, rather than the reverse.
