Barcelona: Beaches, Architecture, and Energy
A vibrant city combining Gaudí architecture, food, and Mediterranean lifestyle.
Barcelona is one of those cities that immediately feels alive. From Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), I took the Aerobus into Plaça de Catalunya — fast, simple, and affordable. I stayed in the Eixample district, which is ideal for first-time visitors — wide streets, central location, and close to major sights. There are also numerous hostals for the budget minded travellers. I have known many who have stayed in them and met wonderful fellow travellers, although be warned that those travellers come in and out at all ours. They may come in at 4 am just as you are getting up to get to the airport. The obvious highlights: Sagrada Família (book tickets in advance) Park Güell Casa Batlló But the city is just as much about wandering. I spent hours in the Gothic Quarter, getting lost in narrow streets. The La Boqueria Market is worth visiting early in the day — later it gets crowded. Food is a highlight. Tapas in El Born district and seafood near the waterfront were standout experiences.
