Gaspe Peninsula: Coastal Quebec at Its Best
A scenic road trip destination combining cliffs, wildlife, and maritime culture.
The Gaspé Peninsula is one of Canada’s best coastal drives. Starting from Quebec City, I drove east along the St. Lawrence River, eventually reaching Forillon National Park. The coastline is dramatic, with cliffs dropping into the ocean and small fishing villages along the way. Wildlife is common — I saw seals and seabirds regularly. It’s a slower pace of travel — long drives, small towns, and simple accommodations. What I’d do differently: Plan stops carefully — distances are longer than expected.
