Las Vegas: More Than Just the Strip
A guide to Las Vegas including the Strip, shows, and nearby natural escapes.
Arriving at Las Vegas Airport (LAS), I took a taxi to the Strip — about 15 minutes and very straightforward. Staying on the Las Vegas Strip is part of the experience. Each hotel feels like a separate world, and walking between them is surprisingly manageable. Key highlights:
· Bellagio Fountains

· Caesars Palace
· The Venetian At night, the Strip becomes even more alive. But what surprised me most was how easy it is to leave the city. I rented a car and drove to:
· Red Rock Canyon (30 minutes)
· Hoover Dam (45 minutes) Both offer a complete contrast to the Strip. Food ranges from casual to high-end dining — some of the best restaurants in the U.S. are here. I’ve also gone on a three-day guys visit to Vegas and got a great package deal. Conversely, I have had the pleasure to attend the Consumer Electronics Expo and Apple World Expo there, and it is amazing how they can absorb thousands of visitors without an issue. On one such trip my wife had a great time touring, while I walked the exposition halls. What I’d do differently: Spend at least one full day outside the Strip.
