Greek Islands Overview: Choosing the Right One

Greece’s islands are not interchangeable — each offers a different experience. From Athens Airport (ATH), you can: Fly to islands (fast, expensive). Note that they often cancel an unfilled flight due to Winds, so just wait for the next one. Take ferries from Piraeus Port (slower, scenic) Examples: ( I’ve been to them all several times) Santorini → views and luxury Mykonos → nightlife Naxos → relaxed and affordable Crete → large, diverse KOS → further east and only a 30 minute ferry from Turkey IOS→ summer destination for younger travellers and nightlife Choosing the right island matters more than trying to see too many. What I’d do differently: Spend more time on fewer islands.
